This is a blog of my portfolio. I work mainly with pen and ink on 11x17 Bristol Board from the Kubert school of Graphic art. The main focus of my art is telling stories of super heroes and scfi adventures.

I shoot competition traditional archery shoots every year. This was from the past weekend in Northern New Jersey. They are basically obstacle courses with targets you have to hit. You shoot in teams of two alternating when you hit the target. Although it is for prizes, trophy's, and bragging rights, my family and I do it for fun (and the late nights of whiskey). I used a mask to sharpen myself and the inside of the log, and then inverted the mask and blurred the rest of the image just a bit. I also PS one of my friends faces out from behind me.

This is a really unique self portrait. I like how you used the log to frame yourself in action. The green coloring in the background is really nice too. I think your photoshop work added to the image and made it even better. Nice job!
ReplyDeleteI agree this is a really unique shot. Love how your looking/shooting through the log. And the competition sounds like a lot of fun.
ReplyDeleteThis is a great example of including personal interests and hobbies in a self portrait. I know how hard these pictures can be to set up, but you are perfectly in the middle of the log. Seeing a small version definitely doesn't do it any justice, because it wasn't until I saw the larger version that I realized what it was.
