I shoot competition traditional archery shoots every year. This was from the past weekend in Northern New Jersey. They are basically obstacle courses with targets you have to hit. You shoot in teams of two alternating when you hit the target. Although it is for prizes, trophy's, and bragging rights, my family and I do it for fun (and the late nights of whiskey). I used a mask to sharpen myself and the inside of the log, and then inverted the mask and blurred the rest of the image just a bit. I also PS one of my friends faces out from behind me.

Digital portrait I had done using Photoshop.

Digital photo and my future with it.

Digital photography is something that I will continue to grow and improve upon. As a illustrator I us photos for reference as well as ideas for my work . The ability to produce my own reference material and capture moments for my work , is something that  is very valuable to me as an artist. This new largely unexplored medium for me is something I am going to without a doubt utilize for the rest of my life.

The bottom is not actually a self portrait its, but it is a pretty cool image of capturing an image.

week 7

I did a quick Copic marker sketch of Allen the alien, the cut him out and taped him to a ruler. ISO at 400, 1/125, F5. Afterward I adjusted the levels, hue saturation, and a little with the contrast. I like the clarity of the top one but the deep shadows of the second one.

Week 4

Caught getn pretty. Just wanted to have some fun this week around and hope to get a few laughs. 1/160, F 6, WB on auto, ISO of 500. Adjusted the levels, color balance, saturation, and crop in Gimp. The green in our bathroom does not photograph well. I attempted to adjust the colors a bit but still seems to give the sickly look. During the day with natural light it actually looks much better. After seeing this might repaint the room.

Playing around with very low/ limited light sources.
Setting of HI 0.7 ISO ,2", and F5.6, with the WB on Auto. Picked up the light I wanted but with such an high ISO got very grainy on me .

Ghosts

Ghosts
For this shot i wanted to utilize the beam of light that was eking out of the the bow steam box. My intent was to have the effect highlighting multiple versions of my wife's eyes. I had the white balance set to auto and the iso at 200. My shutter speed was at 3 and my aperture was at F22. I also utilized a tripod to reduce camera shake.  I personal feel that the image is to bright overall, I wanted just the beam and faces for the final image. I definitively have to work on lighting placement. Also having such an extremely slow shutter speed I gave my wife to early of cues to move ( and to fast would have been better if she move slower as to get more versions of her self) their by limiting the amount of ghosting I captured. I do like the texture of the wood box behind the aluminum flashing, and its crispness. The singular shaft of light pierces the multiple faces well, I think however maybe the background paint is trowing me off. To do again I would have placed the subject against a black or more textured background (possible brick, or cinder block would have created nicer textures against the faces) to help break it up a  bit. Also post production work with level adjustments as well as cropping the image thinner to focus more so upon the light and the blurred faces it is creating would help to strengthen the image as a whole.

Target practice

Target Practice
Just out doing some stump shooting ,while messing with depth of field. For this shot I actually used a white balance of 400, and the aperture priority function. I think it overall turned out ok , however if I had waited another half an hour around five o'clock I would have had some more dramatic lighting.

Self Portrait

Spoon Myself
For the first self portrait I wanted have something with multiple reflective surfaces. I experimented with all types of metallic objects through out my house. From pots and pans to, swords, Christmas decorations, saw blades, arrow heads, and eventually the multiple spoons. Along with the various items I attempted to take vary shots utilizing different lighting sources as well as directions. I also attempted different lens, all to no avail. I just couldn't get close enough to get the multiple faces as well as the texture of the medal. The final image is actually taken using my IPhone4. The slight depth of field was later added in a photo editing app also on the phone. I also adjusted the colors slightly using the same app called camera ++ . Hopefully throughout the semester i will have the opportunity to to learn how better to shoot close ups like this using my DSLR.
